I tend to get very stressed and it accumulates as physical tension in my shoulders, neck and back. Over time, the stress is almost debilitating and massage therapy has been one of the most effective forms of stress relief for me. Deep tissue or shiatsu from a therapist who really knows what they're doing and works a lot with office workers (like me) is ideal. The one unfortunate thing is that massage in the US tends to be very costly! At $50+ an hour, it's tough to justify massage on a regular basis. If anyone has suggestions for the Bay Area, I'd love to hear it.

How can you remember to do these things to relieve stress?  When I'm stressed, I'm usually so focused on the things stressing me out that I don't even think about trying to relax.

I like the deep breathing idea.  I can't seem to do that at my desk though.  Even if things are crazy and I'm under a deadline, if I'm so stressed that I can't see straight I'll head to the stairwell and just walk up a couple of flights of stairs and then back down.  I can add the deep breathing to that exercise and it might be even better!  Usually if I can step away from the problem at my desk for even a couple of minutes, when I get back I'm thinking more clearly and it seems to help.  I do this at home too when the kids (6 and 8) and the dogs and the cats and the phone are all going at once.  If I walk out on my back porch or up to my room for a minute or too it really helps.  Serenity now!

I find a walk at lunchtime helps me through my work stress.  I look forward to it in the morning and it regulates my stress in the afternoon because I feel so good after walking.
