wt loss update and more

Losing weight can be a bit like watching grass grow (in slow motion). There are times it feels like it's going to take forever to get to your goal. But that's the idea. I'm down 6-7 lbs which doesn't sound like much but if I can duplicate those results each quarter I'll drop 20 lbs by early next year. That's my goal. So don't rush it. Be comfortable with a gradual drop and enjoy the ride. You'll be on it for the rest of your life.

I read an interesting article last week. Seems there was a rather successful real estate tycoon who was negotiating a deal with a contractor to complete a project for his company. In the middle of the negotiations the tycoon stopped and told the contractor that if he didn't lose 60 lbs he probably wasn't going to live to see the project to completion. If he wanted the job he needed to drop the weight. They agreed on 30 lbs and included an nice financial incentive if he hit the date. He did and the project moved forward. It sure would make life a lot easier if we could have those frank conversations. Not sure how many friends you'd make but ...... I'd be interested to see what others think. Should we be that direct with our clients, our employees, ourselves? Imagine an email campaign with the theme; "Lose that weight or say goodbye to the kids". Would it get people motivated or annoyed. Let me know. If you like it, I've got a couple of other ideas I'm working on.

I read that same article and at the time thought the CEO might be saving that contractor's life, so the contractor might have overlooked the blunt approach. Interesting question you posed about how direct should we be when it comes to motivating someone about weight loss. Personally, I think it depends on whether you're female or male. I think males are less touchy about their weight and a direct approach wouldn't bother them as much. However, I  think a female wouldn't cotton to the blunt approach.  Has any one ever read anything on this topic?
