Four legs are better than two

Here's a healthy idea to think about ....

If solo strolls leave you staring at sidewalk cracks, find a regular walking partner. You’ll have more fun and be more likely to stick with it. The benefits of pounding pavement include weight loss and a lowered risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, osteoarthritis and cancer.

Remember: Consult with your physician before beginning any exercise regimen.

I very much agree on four legs better than two.  Very well put. Having a partner or multiple workout buddies is so awesome.  You never want to let your partners down, so you go the extra mile, get up and meet them when you'd rather roll over and get and extra hour of sleep.  Workout buddies are as important as air in my book.

Partners are great. There is someone to talk to while you are walking or working out and it seems more like a social thing than "work" my husband has started going with me to the gym and that is nice to have him there.

A group of us, usually about 4 or 5 , walk to the restaurants to have our lunch. It's about 20 minutes walk but we do not feel it because we are laughing and talking while walking. Also, if somebody walks fast, the rest of us try to keep pace so it forces the slow walkers to walk faster and hence, get the most out of it.

A friend and I usually walk during lunch, we are in a somewhat rural area and did have an 'incident' that caused us to change our walking route.  Safety is another good reason to have two of you!

Also, if you dont have anyone to exercise with you can always take a pet! Dogs are always excited to get out and get fit.

If you live in an apartment complex or a condo community, post on the bulletin board that you are looking for a walking partner.  It worked for me.

I have had a lot of luck with the partner system.  In fact, walking with a partner has led me to form a habit of walking.  Now, when my partner can't make it, I go out anyway because I don't want to miss the exercise.

My dogs as my partners has worked wonders!  I feel guilty if I don't take them for walks.  Also, I have two large dogs and I can't walk them at the same time so I have to take one after the other which keeps me outside exercising longer!
