OK this is a subject I really hate to mention.  I have such tremendous gas in the afternoon and into the evening.  I have noticed it more with my diet change (to lose weight I have been doing the weight watchers points system).  I typicaly eat Kashi or hot oats with fruit of some sort in it for breakfast; a fruit or two during the morning and a spinich or other green salad with olives carrots maybe a little olive oil dressing for lunch.  so the gas starts loading up after lunch.  what's going on I love to eat the salads they are so satisfing but the gas!  I am termpted to just forget trying to watch what i eat.  this is very discouraging.  my sister inlaw mentioned a gal blader problem, but I find that hard to accept.  i do eat candies at the work place which i am trying to avoid daily Big Smile and maybe a couple of cups of black coffee in the morning.

Hello, the gas you are experiencing could come from a variety of sources. First off the Kashi cereals have soy protein in them and that does cause some gas problems for people. Consider another high fiber cereal without the soy such as Kelloggs Bran Buds. Make this change and see how the GI tract does.

Next, you are right about vegetables and fruits especially if they are raw they are harder to digest and can produce more gas. These vegetables are gas producing - broccoli, onions, beans, and peppers - so avoid them for awhile and see if it helps.

Lastly, what kind of candy are you eating? If it has sugar alcohols (mallitol, sorbitol, or xylitol) they can produce a laxative effect and gas. These kinds of candies are usually the sugar-free versions.

Gas can be a problem, but don't let it stop you from eating right.  If you notice certain foods that give you gas, purchase beano (walmart, drug stores and grocery stores carry it).  Eat a couple of these with the first bite of food and it will help with the gas.  Also, if before your diet consisted of white flour and sugar, the change of the healther food is getting rid of the toxins out of your system.  Give it time and the gas will probably go away.  You may want to try a colon cleanse such as Dr Natura to speed up that process.  Visit their website.
